Opioid use has mushroomed to near epidemic levels in many areas of the world. Prescription-based pain killers have become too easy to acquire. Casey, ACT -- Opioid abuse may be eclipsing all other drug abuse, making legal drug manufacturers the largest provider of harmful narcotics in the country. The FDA has taken notice and is drafting rules to stem the tide. Earlier this week, the FDA announced plans to require pharmaceutical companies to provide continuing education for doctors and other healthcare professionals who prescribe opioids to their patients.
